Prologue
All in all, it wasn't quite how Marcia Overstrand had imagined spending the first night of her Championship. She had expected- or maybe hoped- for something with a bit more grandeur. Instead, she found herself in Alther's lab, witnessing the birth of a baby- the former Champion's baby, even. In hindsight, Marcia regretted challenging the obviously pregnant woman, as the stress of losing had clearly sent her into labor. Marcia would, she thought, set up a strict appointment system in regards to challengers now that she was Champion.

The process was long and rather frustrating for Marcia- she didn't really like how loud the woman was, but she figured it would be impolite and a little tactless to ask her to quiet down, considering she felt at fault for sending the woman into labor in the first place. So Marcia suffered in silence and eventually the baby was born; a healthy girl with dark hair and violet eyes, just like her mother's. Just when it seemed like things would quiet down and perhaps Marcia would get the fanfare she had expected, the unthinkable happened.

It would be later that they would find out this was something that had been in plan for a long time, though Marcia had been an unexpected wrench in the gear of their plans. They had never accounted for someone beating the then Champion in a battle.

The door burst open, nearly flying off of its hinges. Immediately a large team of Pokémon filed in, followed by several people dressed in black with bright red "R"s on the chest. Their faces were covered by black scarves and Marcia couldn't tell who was who, nor did she have any idea that they were a team of criminals- at least, not at first. Alther and Cerys both didn't seem to know who they were, either, which meant these people were definitely not invited to the birth of the baby.

No one had the opportunity to speak before the leader of the new arrivals lifted a silver pistol and raised it in Cerys' direction.

The rest of the night was a blur. Alther had told Marcia to run, handing her the bundled up newborn baby as he prepared to hold back the group of people so that she could escape. Somehow she had managed to without coming to harm and despite a little fussing, the bundle in her arm managed to fall back asleep. Something told Marcia that she had to get back to the Pokémon League quickly- their assassination attempt had clearly been for the Champion. No one knew Marcia had become Champion yet- otherwise, she thought, it might have been her at the receiving end of that bullet.

That thought was enough to send shivers up Marcia' spine and she pulled her cloak tight around her as she made her way through the darkened streets of the town. She was a tad frantic, though she was trying very hard to keep herself calm; Alther would be able to defend himself, she told herself. Marcia was more worried about the fact she had to care for a child. She had never been the best with children, so she really had no idea what she was supposed to do with one.

And that was when she saw him- Silas Heap. He appeared to be in a hurry, but surely he could make time for her. Marcia strode briskly up to him. "Silas!" she hissed, trying to keep her voice down as much as possible. She still felt like those evil people might descend on her at any moment.

The man named Silas Heap turned around, not looking very pleased at having been interrupted- especially by Marcia of all people. "I haven't the time, Marcia. I've only gone out to get something for Sarah, she's given birth to-" But he didn't have time to finish, as Marcia was shoving the bundle into his arms.

"Tell no one. She was born to you." In Marcia's opinion, they had so many children that one more ought to not hurt. She trusted them, and she figured that no one would know any better. The baby would be safe with them and she would be free to focus on finding out what was going on. "Please," she hissed quickly. "I must go now. The League isn't safe."

A moment later, she was letting out an Altaria from one of her Pokeballs and climbing atop it. Silas was baffled, but it only took a moment for him to realize what it must mean. Marcia was the Champion. With a bit of an exasperated sigh, the man made his way back home with the newborn baby in his arms. How was he going to explain this to Sarah?

Unbeknownst to the both of them, in each city all across the region, the villainous team that called themselves Team Rocket were breaking in and abducting children and babies, and Sarah and Silas's newborn was one of them.

Chapter One
Ten years and a few months later, Marcia awoke to the sound of her alarm going off. It took her a long moment to realize that it had been a dream, and that she had not suddenly found herself ten years in the past. Team Rocket wasn't still in control of everything- they had won.

And she had something very important to do that day- something that if she didn't get a move on, she would be late for. She smiled faintly, as events from recent months lingered in her mind. She had finally found someone who might one day take her place as Champion, it was time for her to see him off on his journey. It would be a long one for him, she knew that. But in the months they spent together before the demise of Team Rocket, she'd seen that he had a special, skillful way of handling Pokémon.

So with a new bounce to her step at the thought, she got out of bed and proceeded to start getting ready.

Hundreds of miles away, Septimus Heap awoke to his own alarm.

Unlike Marcia, he was up and out of bed quickly, an eagerness in his movements and overall mannerisms. He could hardly believe it. Not only had he recently found out he had an entire family that he had never known about, but he was finally, finally free to become a Pokémon trainer.

All of his life, he had been known simply as Grunt 412, stolen from his family and taught the ways of Team Rocket, along with a whole army of other young grunts. At age 8, he had been given a standard issue rattata and taught the basics. From then on, he had dreamed of becoming a trainer- maybe if Champion, like the woman they were all taught to hate.

They were taught to hate the Champion because, frustratingly, the Pokémon League was the one place that held out above all others. Marcia's Pokémon and he skill at training them had been enough to prevent even Team Rocket from taking control of the league and for ten long years, they brainwashed kids into hating her and plotted to overthrow her.

It was on the night that they tried when Septimus' life changed forever. Caught in the crossfire between Marcia's Lapras' Blizzard attack, he was very nearly killed. She took him in and nursed him back to health. He, along with Jenna Heap, the daughter of the former Champion whom Team Rocket had tracked down and intended to finish the job, Nicko Heap and a few others, ended up at Jenna's Aunt Zelda's house.

There, they had slowly befriended Grunt 412 and it was with his help that Marcia finally managed to defeat the leader of Team Rocket, DomDaniel.

Somehow, he had managed to attract Marcia's attention and she thought that he would make a good trainer. It was under her advisement that he had finally decided to embark on a quest to get the badges, along with his Pokémon, a Rattata named Boris. He'd only really named it recently, as they weren't allowed to in Team Rocket. It was little things like that which Septimus was happy for the most.

He was to meet Marcia at Alther's lab, where he would also be receiving his Pokédex and then he would be off on his journey. It was exciting and slightly scary. But mostly exciting.

The house was surprisingly quiet as he made to leave his room after having put on a long-sleeved green t-shirt ad tan pants. His hair was a lost cause- after having to shave it all off for his entire life, he was letting it grow wild and free for now. He didn't particularly feel like trying to fuss with it, so his straw colored curls were sticking up everywhere.

After finding out her parentage, Jenna had convinced everyone to move in her mother's old house, so it was quite big enough for the entire Heap family. Septimus liked it if only because it made for a good change from the cramped living quarters at Rocket HQ. Still, he would have expected there to be a bit more hustle and bustle, considering it was his first day on his new journey. Unbeknownst to him, he would soon learn the reason behind that.

He made it to the kitchen a moment later and as he flicked the light on, he realized just why it was so alarmingly quiet.

"Surprise!"

The voices of several people rang out at once, startling Septimus enough that he nearly fell backwards as he took a step back. There was a banner saying "Congratulations" hanging from the ceiling and a large cake on the kitchen table, which the entirety of his new family was standing around.

Maxie, the Arcanine, barreled over and, as the Pokémon never quite seemed to realize he was bigger than most people, knocked Septimus over and drooled all over him.

"Eugh-! Maxie, getoffme," he cried out, though his tone was amused as he pushed at the large, happy dog Pokémon. It was only when his father, Silas, came over that Maxie finally listened.

"Down, boy." With the dog out of the way, Silas extended a hand to which Septimus took gratefully. He looked even messier than he had a moment ago. A moment later, Silas was pulling him into a hug. "I'm proud of you," he said quietly.

It was still strange for Septimus, having a family and most of all getting hugged. Maybe it was even a little awkward for him, but he returned the hug and tried not to let it show. "Thanks," he said with a smile. It was then that Sarah Heap intervened, moving in to push Septimus towards a chair.

"Come on, you can't go off on a trip on an empty stomach! I've made all your favorites," she said, "As well as cake."

Septimus refrained from mentioning that she couldn't possibly know his favorites- nor did he note that the bacon and eggs presented to him had a depressing lack of cabbage. He'd grown quite fond of breakfast at Aunt Zelda. He didn't want to hurt Sarah's feelings, though. Instead, he gave her a smile as the rest of the Heaps sat down around him and the usual breakfast hubbub began. To Septimus, it was strange and exciting. He'd never get used to having breakfast with his family.

But something was missing. "Where is Jenna?" he asked- and, as an afterthought, "And Simon?"

"Jenna's still getting ready," Nicko answered helpfully. "And Simon…"

"Don't worry about Simon," Silas said with a small sigh, opening up his newspaper and burying himself in it.

The truth was, Simon wasn't there because he didn't want to be. He was jealous that Septimus had the direct support of the Champion on the start of his journey, not to mention that Marcia seemed to think Septimus would be the one to become Champion one day. It was his dream. Septimus had come along and gotten in the way.

"…Alright then," Septimus said with a shrug. It was vague and a little ominous, but he didn't want to pry. He was more interested in what was going on with Jenna. "Does anyone want to tell me what Jenna's getting ready for exactly?"

"Well duh, I thought it would be obvious." A voice from the doorway made Septimus turn in his seat, having been in the process of feeding a bit of bacon to Maxie who was standing next to him. She was dressed in sensible clothing and had a backpack thrown over her shoulders. "I'm coming with you!" It looked, Septimus realized, like he wasn't going to be alone on his journey like he thought. Jenna was coming with him.

Apprentice Wanted

From Dave:

Riley: Flowers and a note saying he knows what a shitty gift it is but he can't think of anything better and that it's basically an IOU a better gift.

Herc: A pair of briefs with 'Foxy Grandpa' on the butt.

Cronus: A prank wind-up box that promises something sexy but when you crank the handle a fist comes out and punches you in the face.
-
From Snow:

Dualscar, Herc and Riley will all find a single white rose somewhere in their rooms. They probably won't know who it's from or what it even means, but it's symbolic. It means you've pissed him off and he's watching you.
-
From Septimus:

Septimus unfortunately isn't getting anyone anything for Christmas because he has nothing of value to offer anyone. Also he doesn't have very many friends and doesn't feel the need to buy anything for anyone.
-
Ruby City

From Dave:

Dirk: A note saying his new years resolution is to TRY and be a little more tolerant of Dirk's troll friends. Also a (sloppily, but he tried) bound comic book featuring Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff in never before seen scenarios. This shit is off the chain, yo.

Roxy: Something similar to Dirk's present, but this one features Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff as wizards.

Dante: A glass of tomato juice. Probably not as good as a V8 but he made it with love and irony.
-
From Septimus:

Damara: He isn't sure if Damara celebrates Christmas but she will receive an assortment of chocolate, all made with the chocolate charm he has. He'll also come visit her on Christmas day and bring coffee from the coffee shop and spend time with her for Christmas, if she isn't busy.

Regulus, Remus and Sirius: They all get chocolate, too. He's also compiled notes on how magyk from his world works, what the Wizard Tower is like and things of that nature that he thinks they might find interesting. For Regulus, he adds a few extra pages on Witches and how they differ from Wizards, including facts about the Wendron Witches.

Roxy: She also gets chocolate! Because he has a chocolate charm and he's putting it to good use. But she also gets another charm, one that will call her cats to her if she ever finds one of them missing. It might also have the added side-effect of attracting other strays by accident. It's written on a little stuffed mouse, which he thought would be a cute idea.

Dolorosa: She gets chocolate and a thank-you note for helping him and being so friendly.

Marco: He gets a charm that allows him to go invisible for a short period of time when he uses it. A half hour, at most, depending on how hard he's concentrating when he uses it. It's written on a piece of transparent paper, and there will be a note explaining how to use it and to make sure he keeps it safe. If it tears, the magyk will start acting funny.

So basically if you have CR with him you're getting chocolate.

CHARACTER
Name: Loki Laufeyson
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Age: Real age is somewhere in the 1000s, apparent age is in his 20s
Timeline: The end of The Avengers
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: This is only to be used if are already playing another character from the canon you are applying for. For example, if you are apping Mario and you already play Princess Peach in the game, how will you handle their interactions without playercesting? N/A

Personality: Loki, above and beyond all else, feels like he is entitled to some sort of rule. Throughout every movie he's been in, his driving force has been to have control, be it Asgard or Earth. His entitlement is brought on by a lot of things, but primarily by his jealousy of Thor. All throughout his life he's felt second best to his brother and always longed to be his equal. But he knew he was never equal to Thor and it made him bitter. He looked for ways to undermine Thor, to make him look like the better option over his brother.

The levels in which Loki will stoop to in order to do this really know no bounds; he's betrayed Thor and everyone else countless times, sneaking Frost Giants into Asgard before he ever even learned the truth of his lineage and really came to desire the throne and get revenge. He's has nothing against lying and deceiving people in order to further his ambitions, even if they are family or people who he calls friends- if he ever even has friends. If he did, he would probably betray them too if an opportunity presented itself and it was the way to get what he wanted.

To speak of Thor for a moment, it isn't that Loki doesn't love Thor, there just happens to be years of resentment and anger that clouds it and makes it seem like Loki despises him. All his life, he's come second to Thor and Thor's accomplishments. In a way, Loki made it sound like he idolized Thor during their childhood, and that idolization has turned into a bitterness that made Loki want to knock Thor down several pegs while he rises above him. He seems to want nothing more than to see Thor lose everything just so he can be there to take it all for himself.

Their relationship is complicated. He probably does care for him. Maybe.

His anger towards being second best became even greater upon finding out that he was not Asgardian like he thought he was and was in fact adopted, a Frost Giant baby taken in by Odin and raised as his own. Finding out he wasn't a true son of Odin was a huge turning point for Loki. He saw Odin's actions as nothing more than taking a trophy, that he would be used as nothing but a pawn and that Odin never intended to put him on the throne because he wasn't his true son. It made him even more angry towards Thor and even more determined to take the throne from him, to prove that he could be a better and more suitable king than Thor.

Such was his determination that he had no qualms with trying to destroy an entire planet in order to prove himself to Odin- and that's where his manipulative, deceitful side comes into play. Rather than doing it in a straightforward manner, he did it in a conniving, backstabbing sort of way. Making a pact with the Frost Giants, leading them into Asgard only to betray them to make him look better in Odin's eyes. Loki isn't one to do things in a straightforward manner; he lies, he tricks and he deceives in order to accomplish his goals. He's not the god of mischief for nothing, after all.

Once Odin denied him and his attempts at proving himself, Loki decided to allow himself to be sucked into the abyss created by the destroyed bifrost. To everyone else, it looked like Loki committed suicide. It didn't kill him and instead seemed to warp his mind quite a bit, as when he finally revealed himself alive with his attempts to take over Earth, he seemed a fairly different man than the one he once had been. Darker, more angry, he was willing to stop at nothing to take over the Earth for himself, thus showing just how desperate he is for a little bit of power. He killed, he threatened and he acted completely without remorse the entire time.

Loki does not hold the title of god with any sort of humility or grace as a god or even potential ruler should. He believes himself superior to everyone and that everyone is below him and that he is doing them all a favor by attempting to rule them, despite the fact that his order would have brought on chaos and death. He values the lives of mortals very little and thinks nothing of killing or lying to them. As he put it, an ant has no quarrel with a boot and he is the boot that wishes to step on the humans, to rule them with an iron fist.

Despite all of this, Loki has also been called silver tongued. He is intelligent, eloquent, and extremely good at lies and deceit. He may be a raging, entitled douchebag, but he's capable of coming across as the complete opposite if the need arises. It goes hand in hand with his ability to shapeshift, which he's used to deceive people before in order to get what he wants or even to just screw around with them. Despite all his anger and bitterness, he's still got a pretty damn good sense of humor, such as the god of mischief should. His primary mode of offense is usually having a good defense, which translates to making copies of himself to confuse opponents. As such, being deceitful is pretty much in Loki's core.

Overall, Loki really only cares about himself. If he seems to care about other people, it's probably a trick and he intends on stabbing them in the back at some point if the chance presents itself in a way that he can benefit from it. If someone isn't useful to him, he likely won't even bother with them. Truly the only person he has shown to not hold any real resentment towards if his mother, Frigga. Odin lost all of his love and desire for respect upon learning of his lineage and as such, he stopped caring for him much like he did Thor. Frigga is the only one Loki still seems to hold affection for after everything.

But he would still probably stab her in the back if it got him a throne.

Background: A wiki link for your reading pleasure

Abilities: Loki has a wide range of powers, mostly magical in nature. It's safe to say that being the god of mischief, he specializes in deception. He can create copies of himself and others if need be, though these copies aren't solid. They aren't always the clearest copies, as they tend to flicker a little if Loki isn't focusing on them enough. Along with that, he can mask the appearance of objects such as the way he was able to make his scepter look like a regular walking cane. Loki is also capable of shapeshifting, from his clothes to his actual appearance which he uses to disguise himself as other people, for shits and giggles as well as to further his goals.

Aside from his magical powers, Loki is both intelligent and physically adept and as well as clever. Despite the fact he looks skinny and incapable, he's able to hold his own in a fight with Thor well enough despite the strength Thor possesses. He's also got insanely fast reflexes, being able to do things like grab an arrow that was flying towards him out of mid air. Loki has also been shown to be pretty damn strong, capable of throwing lesser men around like ragdolls.

He's a lot more durable than humans, considering he's not human at all. He's capable of taking several kinds of beatings, most notably from The Hulk as well as others and walking away with little more than a few scratches, even after being pummeled into the ground by The Hulk. Despite being able to take a beating, he seems a little more susceptible to stabbings, though he still hasn't died from any of them so he's still pretty damn durable.

Owing to his Frost Giant lineage, he seems to be immune to the cold and it's damaging effects.

First Person: [Well, well, well. This was unexpected. Ending up in an entirely new city, sans Thor, after attempting to world hop back to Asgard?

It seems Loki lucked out, and he can't help but grin. At first, he thought it was a simple malfunction with the Tesseract, but then he realized quickly that it was something far bigger than that. This is an entirely new world all together. An entirely new world in need of a ruler that wasn't faceless.

The ruler is him.

But beyond that, in his time looking around and trying to get his bearings, he's noticed something. He's not the only one from his world. Oh no, a certain woman by the name Jane is also there. Loki figures this ought to be fun. He can have a fun before announcing his true presence, can't he? Besides, the lie could prove useful. After all, people seem to be more endeared with his big blond oaf of a brother than himself.

So his appearance shifts into that of his brother, Thor, and he switches on the video feed.]

Greetings Ruby City.

[The smile that plays at those lips is a lot friendlier than it would appear on Loki's.]

I am Thor Odinson of Asgard. What can you tell me of this place?

Third Person: Who would have thought that impersonating Thor would have ended up being so frustrating? Actually, Loki had had a feeling that it would end up being that way, but he'd still done it anyway. Despite that, he found it growing increasingly more infuriating the longer he did it. Their differences became increasingly more apparent. Whereas Loki was eloquent and intelligent, acting as Thor made him feel clunky and idiotic.

Not a very friendly way to consider your brother, but such was the way of Loki. That aside, it also fueled his jealousy. He wanted people to look to him and consider him a leader, someone to look up to. Not Thor. He thought perhaps it was time to let the disguise go and to let people see him for who he was- or else pretend "Thor" had vanished and he had shown up in his place. No one would be any the wiser to his little game of deception and he could work on cultivating his image of king.

At least, that's how it worked in his mind, for the most part. . The people of Ruby City weren't so primitive like the ones on Earth. A lot of them seemed more intelligent than to be ruled by him. But there were no Avengers to put a stop to him, from the looks of it. Maybe he was over thinking it. Without the Avengers- without Thor maybe he could successfully take control of this place and become their king.

Still, even with those ambitions in mind, Loki was hesitant. He wasn't some child who didn't learn from his mistakes. He wasn't Thor. The attempt on Earth had failed. Maybe a more subtle approach was in order. Maybe he should give the old silver tongue a work out and deceive people in a more personal way. A way that didn't involve pretending to be an idiot.

Yes. That was exactly how he should do it. Enough relying on Thor in any form. He would do it as himself and Thor would become but a forgotten whisper on the winds. Soon, it would be only Loki.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Septimus Heap
Canon: Septimus Heap
Gender: Male
Age: 13 but aged up to 16 obviously
Suitability: Septimus is used to adapting to different situations. In the first book, he unwittingly got pulled along with the ExtraOrdinary Wizard and the Princess as they tried to escape the castle and to his credit, he remained fairly calm and got through the situation. Throughout the books he becomes a pretty mature kid and is capable of handling a lot of different situations without panicking or losing his shit. However, the setting of the game will be pretty jarring for him. He's never really been exposed to sex or anything quite like what the game has to offer, having been in the young army and then taken on as an apprentice wizard. It's never been anything he's thought about or had the time for. But with his ability to adapt and survive, despite the setting's weirdness Septimus and the fact he's clearly out of his element, Septimus will do alright in the setting.
Species: Human and also Wizard
Canon Point: After book five, Syren, ends
World/Setting: N/A
History: His wiki article
Personality: Septimus is, above all of his other qualities, an easy going guy. He's friendly and laid back and usually isn't someone quick tempered. People find him easy to talk to and approach. His calm demeanor makes it easy for most people to get along with him, and he's a generally well liked individual amongst the wizard at the wizard's tower. In their own words, they appreciate the fact that unlike Marcia or other well known wizards, Septimus hasn't let his position go to his head. It's a sign of just how down to earth Septimus is that he hasn't let it, considering it's a very big honor to be chosen as the ExtraOrdinary Wizard apprentice- especially to Marcia Overstrand, who spent years searching for just the right person to take as her apprentice.

That isn't to say, however, that he doesn't have his moments where he gets irritable or impatient or even downright angry. He's someone who wants to be taken seriously, perhaps because he has the need to have people's approval (or at least people he cares about, like his family or Marcia); when someone doesn't believe him, or doesn't take what he's saying seriously, it usually gets him pretty upset. His stubborn streak comes out then, leading him to go to great lengths to prove himself right, such as when Simon kidnapped Jenna and no one believed him, prompting him to go off on a journey to save her himself. When he thinks he's right about something, it takes a lot to sway him from it- usually the cause being him actually being proven wrong. Though he isn't wrong very often, it does happen on occasion. But usually, Septimus has a pretty good instinct when it comes to things, which probably has a lot to do with how he grew up.

From birth to age ten, Septimus was raised in the Young Army as Expendable Boy 412. During his training, he was taught the ins and outs of survival. He became quite the resourceful boy during his time in the Young Army. Considering how dangerous it was and how many kids actually died, it's easy to see just how talented Septimus was at surviving. He could survive things such as being abandoned in the woods, thrown into wolverine pits and the like. Needless to say, life in the young army was not an easy one but Septimus survived. Along with the survival skills, he became equally as skilled at being organized. He keeps his things neat and tidy without being asked, as well as his young army backpack packed at all times with things he might need in order to survive should the need arise. Though, he did go through a bit of a rebellious phase after leaving the Young Army in which he was purposefully messy- but then he realized he much preferred being clean and got back into the habit of keeping everything nice and organized.

Septimus is also a very intelligent boy. Even despite being the seventh son of a seventh son and thus more magykally inclined, Septimus is smart and picks things up pretty quickly. He has a thirst for knowledge in general, but especially magykal knowledge. When he got out of the army, he spent ages just reading book after book because he enjoyed them so much. He took to magyk quickly and immersed himself in it. Becoming a Wizard was a source of great pride and excitement to him, the day of him becoming an apprentice being one he would remember fondly for the rest of his life. Along with his penchant for Magyk, Septimus was also a natural at Physik and quickly became skilled in it when he was forced to be apprenticed to Marcellus Pye. Physik is pretty much the opposite of Magyk, dealing with potions and herbs and the like.

Perhaps one of the only things he regards with more fondness than that would be him finding out he actually had a family. It was something he had always wanted and when it was a dream come true when he was reunited with them. Septimus loves his family dearly, but it isn't all peaches and cream though; his family is also a source of insecurity for him. There are times he feels like he doesn't quite fit in with them because of the fact he spent ten years of his life not having a family at all. He desperately wants to fit in with them and gain their approval. He was really glad when, even though Simon still treated him badly, his eldest brother finally acknowledged him as a sibling. For the most part, Simon being the main exception, his insecurities are unwarranted because his family loves him quite a lot. A few of them think he's a little weird (and judge him for liking Aunt Zelda's cabbage sandwiches), but he's okay with that as long as they accept him.

Septimus also has a very close relationship with his mentor, Marcia Overstrand. He has a habit of both impressing her and testing her patience from time to time; in fact, he's impressed her so much that she promoted him to senior apprentice years before most apprentices received such a promotion. Septimus sincerely looks up to Marcia in her talent with magyk and in turn Marcia is, despite her impatience and severe personality, very fond and protective of Septimus as well. The two have a really good relationship overall. In a way, she's like a second mother to Septimus and it's quite likely the two of them see each other as something like family, dysfunctional though they may be. All in all, Septimus is proud to be her apprentice and it's not something he would trade for the world. Perhaps the one biggest thing they tend to disagree on would be Magyk vs. Physik. Marcia puts no stock in Physik and Septimus, after his forced apprenticeship to Marcellus, came to regard Physik as equally important as Magyk. It causes arguments between them, but in the end Marcia lets him practice it anyway.

Jenna and Beetle are probably two of Septimus' closest friends. Though Jenna and Septimus aren't actually related by blood, the two of them have a strong, brother/sister kind of relationship and they care about each other a lot, with both going to great lengths to keep the other safe whenever danger arises. Not only that, be the two of them have a way of playing off each other that makes solving problems or getting out of trouble that much easier. In a way, they keep each other grounded and each of them greatly benefits from the other. Beetle, on the other hand, is Septimus' best bro. Beetle is truly Septimus' best friend and the two of them do most things together, from helping each other to just chilling out and drinking fizzroot together- a soda-like drink that Marcia disapproves of.

Which really leads to the fact that despite his skills and intelligence and knack for studying, Septimus is still a kid. He's not above breaking the rules from time to time and just being silly, sarcastic and playful. It's not often that he really lets himself go, but it happens on occasion, especially with Beetle- though usually the height of Septimus's rule breaking tends to be drinking the aforementioned fizzroot drink. But aside from that, Septimus has a pretty good sense of humor and it tends to translate over into his Wizard homework, much to Marcia's chagrin. Many a times she's had to chastise him for saying love charms are gross, or trying to be funny in his homework. So for as serious as he is, he can also be pretty childish on occasion.

One of Septimus's favorite things to do is fly. At first, like most wizards, Septimus had an intense fear of heights. That changed when he unwittingly performed all the necessary requirements to hatch a dragon egg he never knew he had. Spit Fyre, his dragon, quickly wormed his way into Septimus's heart and after their first flyte, Septimus fell in love and quickly got over his fear of heights. It became even more of a joy when he discovered the lost art of Flyte, being able to fly by himself with magyk. Unfortunately he enjoyed it a little too much and Marcia ended up taking away his Flyte Charm for a while so that he would start focusing on his studies again.

Overall, Septimus is a good kid and an even better apprentice. He can sometimes lose focus, get irritable, get in trouble and frustrate Marcia, but he's got good intentions and a good head on his shoulders. He's not afraid to jump head first into danger, no matter what it happens to be, if it means helping someone out and there isn't a thing he wouldn't do for his friends or his family. It might get him into trouble sometimes, but in the end he makes out it safe because of his friends and his own skills at survival and magyk.

Abilities/Weaknesses: Septimus is, to put it simply, a Wizard. He is capable of performing all kinds of Magyk. Being the seventh son of a seventh son, he's able to pick things up more quickly than the average wizard and has substantially more Magykal power as well.

The types of spells he can perform range from an UnSeen which allows him to become invisible to everyone, he can Transfix creatures and make them unable to move, Freeze them, create Projections and many, many more abilities. Most notably, he can perform Flyte, which was an art lost until he came across the other piece of the Flyte Charm. It has been shown that he can even perform the spell without the Charm. There are many more spells and charms he's capable of doing, which range from mundane things such as dry clean spells or summons as well as tracking and teleportation.

Magyk is not the only thing Septimus is capable of doing. After being pushed into a mirror and sent to the past, he was forced to become the apprentice to Marcellus Pye. Under his tutelage, he learned Physik, which is basically medicine. He can create potions and cures and many other things with his knowledge of the art of Physik.

Beyond that, after spending the first ten years of his life in the Young Army, Septimus knows all the ins and outs of survival as well as organization and everything that comes with being in an army. He knows how to camp and scavenge for food and make traps and things of that nature. Considering he was known as 'Expendable" and could at any point die during the army training and no one could care less, Septimus is extremely skilled at these things.

Finally, Septimus knows how to take care of dragons! Because he got lucky enough to fill all the requirements of hatching the dragon egg he never knew he had, thus landing him with a dragon he never intended to have. His dragon, Spit Fyre, is quite the handful but Septimus has taken good care of him and loves him dearly.

RP Samples: Dear Mun post

Septimus couldn't shake the feeling that signing the contract had been a mistake. It wasn't that he had signed it spur of the moment- no, he'd given it a fair amount of thought. Being brought there had been a jarring experience and he desperately wanted to get home, back to Marcia and his friends and family. It was too much of a deja-vu experience, ending up in a different time. It was so much different from his home that he couldn't help being reminded of when he had been transported to Marcellus's time. But this? This was like a different world entirely.

To say that Septimus wasn't scared would be a lie. Signing the contract had been a moment of desperation, and he couldn't help but feel like Marcia and Beetle both would have nothing nice to say about it. Contracts could be binding in more ways than one and if he wasn't careful, the consequences could haunt him for a long time. But what choice did he have? It was the only way he could get his magyk back, from the sound of it. Septimus felt empty without his magic, like a significant part of him were missing and he didn't like it at all. So if he could learn magyk here, then he could somehow get home, right?

He didn't want to think about the other stuff the contract had mentioned. Not now, not when he was already out of his element enough as it was. Septimus would cross that bridge when he reached it and not a moment before. He just really hoped that he could handle it when the time came. Give him wolverines any day. As long as he was near his friends and family, he could handle it. But at that moment? They felt so impossibly far away, and he felt more alone than he had in a long, long time. He just hoped that whatever magyk he could learn would be enough to get him home.

CHARACTER
Name: Septimus Heap
Canon: Septimus Heap
Age: 13, nearly 14
Timeline: The end of the fifth book, Syren
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: This is only to be used if are already playing another character from the canon you are applying for. For example, if you are apping Mario and you already play Princess Peach in the game, how will you handle their interactions without playercesting? N/A

First Person: Dear Mun Post but also a written sample:

[If this is magyk, it's not the kind of magyk Septimus is used to. The watch on his wrist doesn't make any sense, with all of its features and apparent hidden secrets. He could press a button to conjure words? It was... nothing short of extraordinary.

But then the video feature is discovered and blows that out of the water.]

I'm not sure what this is or how it's even possible, but it's amazing. But I guess that isn't really important. I need to get back home! I... I can't be lost from my time again, I just can't.

[He sounds a little desperate. It's so similar to when he was taken by Marcellus into the past, Septimus can't help but feel like it's somehow happened again. But he doesn't remember falling through any mirrors, or... Or anything out of the ordinary happening, honestly.]

Marcia needs her apprentice back and I want to see my friends. She's going to get fed up with all the disappearing I end up doing! If she isn't already... Can someone please help me? This is working, right? Hello?

Third Person: Septimus didn't want to admit it, but he was afraid. After waking up on the train with nothing but the clothes on his back, he felt a major sense of deja vu. It was like he'd been lost in time again, only this one was much more unfamiliar even than Marcellus's time and that was saying a lot because Marcellus's time had been extremely confusing. Septimus also wasn't familiar with trains, either, so that in itself was pretty jarring.

So when it finally came to a stop and Septimus departed, he couldn't help marveling at the thing. It wasn't something he'd ever seen before, but it was fascinating as well as frightening. He clearly wasn't in his time. Not by a long shot. Was he in the future? Some distant past? There were myths about this kind of thing. Metal boxes that flew to the moon, that sort of thing. Was this one of them?

He didn't know, and he didn't particularly want to find out. "Hello?" he called out, looking around the seemingly empty train station. No one answered. "Marcia?" He knew it was pointless. Something told him Marcia- or anyone he knew, for that matter- was not there. He felt alone, cold, and scared. "Come on, get it together, Sep. You're alive. That's a pro. You still have your apprentice belt and charms. Another pro." He assumed his magyk still worked, so there was no use checking on that. Magyk wasn't something you could just have taken away, after all.

Unfortunately, however, as he continued naming off all of the pros and cons, the cons ended up outweighing the pros. All he could do from there was wander away and hope he found out how to get back home as the pit of dread in his stomach continued to grow.

Current age, 32.

When he was 18 Bro had a one night stand. Of course as life would have it, babby was formed. Twins were born and he and their mother decided to split the kids and live separate lives. Bro named him Dave, after his older brother just as Dave had named his son Dirk. It was supposed to be ironic or something.

Fast forward into the future, everything changed when the Kaiju nation attacked. Bro and Dave, his brother, got involved in the Jaeger program together. They were drift compatible and immediately the two of them kicked some major ass, becoming pretty famous for their Kaiju killing exploits. There just wasn't a team quite like the Striders.

Of course it isn't a Pacific Rim AU without gratuitous amounts of death and angst. After a few years of working together, they met their match. Bro survived, but Dave wasn't lucky. He died, and Bro quit fighting with giant robots- though he didn't drop off the face of the planet completely. He stuck around and worked behind the scenes, because he knew Dave wouldn't want him to become completely useless just because he had died. Ever since then though, he's refused to try drifting with anyone. He doesn't think that anyone could be as compatible as Dave had been.

OOC Information
NAME: Jamesy
AGE: 20
OTHER CHARACTERS PLAYED: None

IC Information
CHARACTER NAME: Bro Strider
AGE: 32
CANON: Homestuck
CANON POINT: During his fight with Bec Noir, before dying.
FAMILY TYPES: Dark Area: I think this is fitting for Bro because of his struggles of making sure Dave is prepared for Sburb while also still trying to be a good brother/father for him. He knows he has to be hard on Dave and while he doesn't exactly like it, it's just something he has to do to make sure Dave survives.

Dragon's Roar: Bro, as cool and collected as he tends to be, also has a rougher and more abrasive side. He can be quick to fight and rush into things without thinking, especially if Dave is involved and hurt. Once he has an opinion or if he thinks he's right, it can be pretty hard to sway him from that because he's really damn stubborn and full of himself.

Wind Guardians: Bro is extremely independent. For most of his appearance, he's off doing things on his own without the help of anyone or anything. He doesn't think he needs help a lot of the time, nor does he want it most of the time.

APPEARANCE: Bro looks like one goddamn cool dude. Who doesn't look good rocking a pair of pointy anime shades? That's right, he rocks those like nobody's business while tucking his polo into his pants and popping the collar and hiding most of his hair under the coolest hat you ever saw. What hair that does show is light blond and spiked out like you would see from an anime. His skin is pale despite the fact he lives in Texas, something which eats at him to no end. He should be bronze and beautiful, not pale! Behind the aforementioned pointy shades are orange eyes, a thing he's been known to be self conscious about. Like I said, overall the dude is the coolest looking guy ever.
PERSONALITY:
Bro is the motherfucking apotheosis of Cool and Badass, rolling through life offering witty commentary, reacting inappropriately to most things and making flirtacious advances that are probably not wanted. He regards most things with a stoic air of impassiveness- and yes those two qualities are redundant and yet used together for irony and to show how completely unaffected he is by life. And while on the subject of irony, Bro Strider has so many levels, so many layers of irony that no one could ever hope to achieve in a hundred lifetimes, let alone the one tiny one they have. You just can not compete with him when it comes to subtle irony. His irony is so subtle that you may not even know he's being ironic.

At least, a lot of that is what he wants you to believe. Underneath the cool, badassness that he puts off is an actual human being buried there. He does react to things, but he's trained himself to do it in his head; he wears shades at all times because without them, he's more vulnerable. But even Bro has his limits, meaning his his facade is completely capable of crumbling if pushed beyond said limits. It may be hard to push him to those limits, but it really is possible. The one thing that is sure to set him off is if you mess with Dave, and if you mess with Dave, then you had better fucking prepare for a shitstorm. This is also true for if you threaten anyone he's close to, but Dave is the one who will earn you his true fury.

While the two's relationship might be seen as weird, unhealthy, and maybe even borderline abusive, Bro's actions are, in the end, to make Dave a better person. Toughening him up for the real world, making him stronger and preparing him for the shit life can throw at you. He may act like a complete and total douchebag, but he loves Dave, even though he doesn't show it through physical or verbal affection. At least, not often. On the rare occasion that he's feeling vulnerable, if shit's really fucked up, when he knows Dave needs to hear it, he'll give it to him. He is fully capable of giving Dave a hug and telling him that it is okay. Because in the end, no matter fucking what, they're family and he's got Dave's back.

When it comes to having Dave's back, when Dave's in danger or if he thinks Dave's been wronged in some way, his parental instincts pretty much kick into high gear. At least, in Bro's own twisted kind of way. This comes in the form of either fucking your shit up royally and beyond repair (usually via the tip of a sword), or just screwing with you mentally, with threats and smuppets- and raps- but more on those later. To get a sense of just how far Bro would go to protect Dave (and a sense of how much you should not mess with him), take note of how he cut a meteor in half in order to buy Dave time to get into the Medium in canon. He also ended up pretty much sacrificing his own life in order for Davesprite to get away during the battle in which Bro was killed. This goes to show that Bro loved Davesprite just as much as regular Dave, and that he was just as much the 'Real Dave' to Bro as, well, 'The Real Dave'. So now that we've covered their relationship when shit's bad, let's cover their relationship on a normal day.

In a way, they have a relationship that is like your typical sibling rivalry (disregarding the fact Bro is actually Dave's dad, shush.), only cranked up to eleven. Because that is the Strider way. Sarcastic antagonism rules the household, jabs that don't seem so affectionate but really are, and a whole lot of Strifing. Bro pushes Dave to the limit physically pretty much daily, training on the rooftop with swords to make Dave a better fighter, sharpen his senses and the like. And it's all, as stated above, because he's trying to make Dave a stronger, better person. However, it should be noted that Dave is certainly capable of pushing Bro's buttons, and while 95% of the time, Bro ignores it and lets it roll off his back, the truth of the matter is that he is fully capable of punishing Dave is harsh ways, depending on just how bad Dave's fucked up. When this happens, strifing can take on a whole new and dangerous meaning, being used for punishment rather than to benefit Dave.

But of course that doesn't come without guilt as well, because if he's pushed over the edge by Dave, it's highly likely he would regret his actions later when he's calmed down. Especially if he says something out of anger that he doesn't mean, or if he ended up hurting Dave too badly. Because that's one thing Bro doesn't actually do, he never lifts a finger against Dave out of anger if he can help it. Strifing is an entirely difference subject, as strifing is meant to toughen Dave up and prepare him for life, which is one of the reasons he doesn't see it as abusive, even though by all logic it really is, in a lot of ways.

And yeah, somewhere in the back of his mind he knows what a pretty crappy guardian he is, but he justifies it by telling himself he's done the best he can, given his circumstances. Even though sometimes he knows that he's fucked up, it's okay so long as Dave doesn't hate him. As long as Dave continues idolizing him, it's okay. And sometimes it's enough to convince him that just maybe he's actually doing a pretty good job- but only sometimes. But he does a good job at keeping the regret and guilt he feels over being such a shitty guardian bottled up, because if there's one thing that Bro is good at doing, it's bottling things up. As with any bottle though, if there's too much pressure, then it will inevitably explode. That isn't to say that Bro is a ticking time bomb just waiting to unleash a shitstorm of angst over being a shit parent, because he isn't. But that is to say that if pushed too far or he fucks up too hard, then the cap will fly off and his facade will crumble- he will 'lose his cool', to put it in Strider terms.

The two Striders may share an intense sibling rivalry and have the same sense of humour when it comes to certain things, but their personalities happen to be extremely different when it comes to a lot. Where Dave wants you to believe he's cool and collected, his temper is quick to flare and he takes offense more easily, whereas Bro takes things in stride(r), letting things blow over him him and strike back with a calm kind of douchebaggery that Dave can't manage. At least, most of the time. As previously stated, his calm can indeed be broken and when it is, he's capable of being just as hot-headed as Dave can be, if not moreso depending on just how angry he is. He can also be a tad immature when he's in an argument, tossing out insults and petty jabs rather than the eloquent smackdown that he can lay down during a rap.

Now speaking of those raps mentioned earlier, the dude can lay down some sick rhymes all the fucking best beats. He's got a way with words and metaphors that can leave you thinking for days until BAM you're staring into the fridge and suddenly a chill creeps down your spine as you suddenly realize what he meant. But he saves those for rap battles, because the average every day person cannot handle them- it is a proven fact that either their head will explode, or they will become a vegetable. Yes, that is an exaggeration, but he definitely is really good with metaphors and using words. Which leads to another part of Bro that not a lot of people might know, and one that he doesn't really tend to let on to.

Bro is a very intelligent person. He may not show it- and he has plenty of reasons for that, mainly the fact that being a nerd is totally not cool at all, and conflicts with the image he wants to project to people. Bro would rather be seen as a badass ninja-slash-puppetmaster rather than a booksmart nerd, and the two of those are contradictory. As such, he tends to hide the fact that he actually is smart. And he's not even smart in a common sense kind of way, he's actually booksmart because he's taken the time to become booksmart, though the fact of the matter is he's just naturally intelligent. His reasoning for this is that there's no use for stupidity in the world, and he isn't going to contribute to it by being an idiot.

This is a big part of why Bro has dedicated himself to swordsmanship (and also rap, but mostly swordsmanship). He wanted to be good at something, and if he can't actually be a decent human being without fucking that up, he's going to at least have some decent life skills. But of course he's Bro Strider, and instead of picking something that might get him somewhere in life, he picked the thing that would make him a complete and total badass. In fact, he believes his borderline Ninja skills gives him a PhD in Badassology. It may not be anything that means a lot in the grand scheme of things, but he at least feels like he's accomplished something. And that's another reason why he pushes Dave into Strifing, so he'll be good at something too.

Bro also carries around a puppet, Lil Cal. This puppet is hardly ever not thrown over his shoulder, and if it's not then you know something's wrong. He uses it during his rap battles to bring humiliation, as well as in physical combat when he's feeling particularly douchey. Because defeating people with a puppet is the ultimate form of humiliation. Because that's one thing Bro loves to do, humiliate people. Especially the people he dislikes, but also Dave on occasion just to toughen him up a little. But with Dave, it's not so much humiliation as just typical brotherly antagonism. With other people though? You can bet your ass he takes pleasure in laying down that kind of humiliation in a fight.

Bro is also the type of person who lurks in the shadows and waits for the best opportunity to present itself (and to say that Bro is silent and skilled enough to make a Ninja commit suicide out of inferiority would not be much of an exaggeration) before going in for the kill. The kill ranges anywhere from a literal sword to the gut, to a pouring rain of plush big-assed, phalic-nosed puppets. Along with knowing when best to strike, Bro also knows when the fuck to abscond, and he's good at doing this too; in canon, for example, he stabs his sword in the giant beat mesa he was fighting Jack Noir on to cover his escape, initiating The Scratch in the process.

And now we talk about the highly inappropriate side of Bro's personality. As said, he makes unwanted flirtacious advances, but he has no censor either. He doesn't think twice about making lewd sexual innuendos and dropping an f-bomb or similar in conversation- you know, typical sentence enhancers. But just because he makes inappropriate advances doesn't mean he's a total skeez-ball. He knows when to back off, he knows when he's actually not wanted, and the guy is no rapist. He may have a skewed sense of morality and right and wrong, but he's not the type of person to actually force himself on someone in an outright sexual way if they don't want it- which is to say that he may have a lot of kinks and fetishes (many of which you probably don't want to know about!), but noncon ain't one of them.

Bro also happens to collect the aforementioned puppets of big-assed, phalic-shaped variety, around which he has built a porn business- a highly successful one, judging by the fact that the Striders seem to have no trouble getting by financially. These are in fact a main source of torture for Dave, as Bro takes great pleasure in tormenting him with them, but obviously not in a malicious manner. Bro never actually does anything like that towards Dave in any kind of mean way- it's just his own screwed up form of brotherly antagonism. It's not just Dave that he trolls with his puppets, though. When he's feeling like a gigantic troll, he'll do it to just about anyone- and he also has names for all of his puppets. Sometimes he gets too attached to them; woe betide you if you ever mess with Mr. Pickles. or his family.

Despite all this, Bro certainly is capable of pulling himself together and having a serious conversation if the situation really calls for it, though even serious conversations with Bro are not your normal kind of serious conversations. Because he's Bro Strider and that's just how he rolls; if you can't take it, then you can pack your shit and hit the road. But no, in all seriousness Bro really can pull himself together and take things seriously. He may not like to, but he can cut out the irony and bullshit if necessary, or even if it's simply because he likes you- because that mask of irony is a facade that he can let down, if he feels comfortable enough, or if the moment calls for it. It's really hard to gain his trust enough for him to really act his true self around people, but when he's at that level of comfort with someone, there's a lot less irony and douchebaggery and a lot more of a tolerable human being.

Which leads to the final thing (except not really) about Bro, the one thing he doesn't want you to actually know about; he has a heart. He has a heart, and it can actually be as fragile as his ego sometimes. He genuinely does like a lot of people, even though he may not actually show it. If he ends up hurting someone, he actually feels bad about it and will make it up to them, somehow. It might be an unconventional way (because how do you do things normally?), but it would be genuine. Also, if you somehow manage to capture his heart? He is a complete and total romantic and will be willing to give you the world if you ask for it. Bro might claim that he's doing it in an ironic way, but the truth is he's really just a sap like that.

However the truth of the matter is, it's really hard to capture his interest like that, and even harder to keep his interest- or rather, keeping his interest is the problem. On the inside, Bro is an insecure person. He knows he's pretty fucked up, even though he doesn't do anything to change the fact that he is. If he's in love, then those insecurities are easy to manifest into feeling like he isn't good enough for the person he's with. Because he wants the best for them, and he is far from the best. There's a difference between believing he's the sexiest piece of ass in all of Texas (or the world, if you really want to examine how big his ego is) and believing he's actually worthy of being with long term. That's why he tends to only go for casual sex and one night stands, because with those there's no strings attached and there's no risk of heartbreak.

Another reason that it's so damn hard to capture his heart, commitment and insecurity aside, is that he actually has some pretty high standards to boot. This is of course hypocritical of him, because he doesn't feel good enough to date anyone he feels would be worth dating. But that is entirely beside the point. You might think he's attracted to big-breasted, easy girls (or big dicked, ab-licious kind of guys, since Bro doesn't care who the fuck he sleeps with and gender is not actually a thing he is concered with). You know, the type he usually has casual sex with. But the kind of person he would want to be commited to is someone far different than that. He prefers classy, intelligent people. A bit like himself, even though he hides that side of him deep under all those layers of irony. Oh and hotness is always a plus, which makes his standards that much higher. He might fuck the ones with big boobs and no standards, but he would never want to marry them.

Basically, Bro is a goddamn human being. He may try as hard as he possibly can to hide that fact, but it's simply impossible. He has too many feelings for that to ever be something he can do. His irony is a downright lie a lot of the time to cover up the fact that a lot of his actions are perfectly genuine. Countless times, he's blamed irony for things he's done when in reality they're nothing but real- and countless times, he's denied even to himself that this is true. Just as many times as his ironically genuine actions have paid off, they've also failed even more, because he's a man that just has a very skewed sense of what really is right and wrong. But he tries- fuck, does he try. Because deep down inside, he does want to be a good person, especially when it comes to Dave- Dave is actually the person who motivates him to be a better person, but Dave is also the one where he feels like he screws up the most. But it's alright. As long as he has his shades and he can keep a pokerface, people don't have to know these things.

So these are all of the icons (or most of them) that I've saved of Bro since I started playing him. Some are made by me, some have just been found around DW. Unfortunately I lack the credit on a lot SO. I apologize for that.

"Alright, I'll bite. Why're you staring at me?"

It's a question that comes after noticing the girl staring at him for at least ten minutes now. She isn't as subtle as she thinks she is, looking away obviously every time he tries to catch her stare. So he had to ask, because little kids staring at him is about the most annoying and weird thing ever.

She looks like a deer caught in the headlights. "I-- uhh..." She stammers, looking around as if she's debating on running. "Run and I'll catch you, so don't even try," he states firmly. "Come on now, what the hell's the problem? I got something on my face or something?"

The girl just shakes her head. "No! And that's the problem. But I'm not supposed to talk to you about it!"

Bro squints at her from behind his shades. "I'll give you money if you tell me."

"Deal." She holds her hand out.

Bro reaches into his pocket and stuffs a wad of cash in her hand, not even caring how much it actually is. Probably a few thousand P. "Alright, now spill."

"Well see," she starts, putting the money in the little purse she brought with her. "I was talking to Miss Valeria and she said she banged you hard!" Bro's eyes go fucking wide behind his shades and his mouth hangs open. "And so I was looking for bruises!"

What the actual fuck.

"She said she banged you really, really hard against the wall, and that you deserved it!" she continues, "Did it hurt?"

Bro doesn't even know what the actual fuck to say to this. "...No?"

"Ugh," the girl says, shaking her head. "She must've did it wrong."

And with that, she just walks away. And Bro has no fucking idea what just happened.
